Project Report
United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) Renovation Of Safe Space - Bwari

The Safe Space Renovation project focused on rehabilitating and upgrading an existing facility in Bwari Area Council, Abuja, to provide a more secure, functional, inclusive, and conducive environment for psychosocial support services, gender-based violence response activities, community engagement, counseling, and empowerment programmes.

Objective

The major objectives of the project included:

  1. Creating a safe and secure environment for women, girls, and vulnerable persons.
  2. Supporting psychosocial healing and emotional recovery programmes.
  3. Providing a functional center for counseling, awareness, and empowerment initiatives.
  4. Enhancing dignity, privacy, and comfort for beneficiaries.
  5. Strengthening community-based support systems and engagement.
  6. Improving sustainability and usability of the facility for long-term humanitarian interventions.

These objectives align with UNFPA’s broader mandate of addressing gender-based violence, reproductive health, and protection services in Nigeria.

Implementation Approach

The implementation of the Renovation of Safe Space  Bwari by Anazemma Global Enterprises Nigeria Limited adopted a structured and quality-driven approach beginning with site assessment, planning, and stakeholder consultation. The project involved mobilization of skilled personnel and materials for the rehabilitation of structural, electrical, plumbing, and sanitation facilities. Interior and exterior upgrades, improved lighting, enhanced accessibility, and safety measures were carried out to create a secure and comfortable environment for users. Continuous monitoring and quality control ensured compliance with project standards, while final inspections guaranteed successful delivery of a functional and modernized facility that supports counseling, psychosocial support, and community empowerment activities.

  • Enhanced safety and accessibility
  • Better hygiene and sanitation standards
